Ballast Tamper

This hydraulic ballast tamper attachment series is compatible with wheel and crawler excavators, dedicated to compacting railway track ballast, available in three variants: single tamping head, standard double tamping head, and adjustable curve double tamping head to cover all track maintenance scenarios. The compact single tamping head fits tight limited spaces such as turnouts and platforms, precisely compacting ballast under a single sleeper. The standard double tamping head simultaneously consolidates ballast beneath two sleepers, doubling working efficiency on straight tracks and uniformly improving track bed density. The adjustable curve double tamping head allows flexible horizontal spacing adjustment between two tamping units, perfectly matching curved tracks of various radii to solve incomplete compaction caused by offset sleepers on bends. Equipped with heavy-duty wear-resistant tamping picks, it delivers high-frequency hydraulic vibration to firmly pack loose ballast and fix track settlement and voids. Fitted with quick hitch, it can be rapidly swapped with ballast cleaner, sleeper changer and material trimming rake, enabling one excavator to finish full maintenance procedures including ballast clearing, sleeper replacement, tamping and bed shaping. Rugged anti-impact construction withstands harsh ballast conditions, widely used in regular railway maintenance, track overhaul, bed renovation and special curve track repair projects, drastically cutting manual tamping work and track possession time.
